Sponge-Jet Abrasive Buying Guide

BlastOne is your one-stop shop for all your surface preparation needs. Sponge-Jet abrasives are a revolutionary alternative to traditional blasting media, offering a gentler touch on delicate surfaces while maintaining exceptional cleaning power.

But with a variety of Sponge-Jet media options available, choosing the right one for your project can be a challenge. This guide will help you navigate the different Sponge-Jet abrasives offered by BlastOne and select the perfect media for your specific application.

Abrasive Blasting With Up to 99.9% Less Dust

Sponge-Jet abrasives, available from BlastOne, offers a wide range of benefits over traditional blasting media, making them ideal for diverse surface preparation applications. Here are some key advantages of using Sponge-Jet abrasives:

  • Reduced Dust

Sponge-Jet abrasives generate up to 99.9% less dust compared to traditional blasting media. This is crucial for projects where dust control is critical, such as near sensitive equipment, when removing hazardous contaminants or coatings, or in confined spaces.
  • Improved Safety

Thanks to low dust and rebound, Sponge-Jet blasting creates a safer work environment. Reduced dust exposure protects workers’ health, while high visibility allows for better inspection during the blasting process, reducing the risk of rework. Additionally, lower rebound minimizes the risk of skin abrasion and eye injury.
  • Reduced Costs

Sponge-Jet abrasives can significantly lower your overall project costs. Less dust translates to less clean-up, reduced containment and air management needs, and less chance of facility damage. Other benefits include less material usage due to recycling and reusability, and the ability for other trades to continue working nearby during the blasting process, minimizing downtime.
  • Increased Efficiency

With Sponge-Jet abrasives, near-perfect blasting visibility eliminates the need to wait for dust to settle, allowing for continuous inspection and reducing the likelihood of rework. Additionally, automatic vacuum recovery, recycling, and reloading systems offered by BlastOne can further streamline the blasting process.

Why Sponge Media?

Containment capability of sponge and the cleaning and cutting power of conventional abrasives

The pliant nature of Sponge Media abrasives allow its particles to flatten on impact (fig. 1), exposing the abrasive. After leaving the surface, the media expands, creating a vacuum – entrapping most of what would normally have become airborne contaminants (fig. 2). This is referred to as Sponge Media’s MicroContainment.

THE SPONGE-JET PROCESS

To delve deeper into the innovative process behind Sponge-Jet’s effectiveness, let’s explore how Sponge Media abrasives capture contaminants and achieve superior dust control.

Protect Your Environment and Bottom Line

Tired of dust disruptions and safety hazards? Sponge-Jet technology offers superior dust control, reducing workplace hazards and costly project delays.

EQUIPMENT BREAKDOWN

Traditional blasting methods can expose instruments, electronics, and rotating equipment to harmful dust and moisture, leading to costly breakdowns. The Sponge-Jet technology eliminates up to 99% of abrasive dust, improving overall equipment and plant reliability.

EYE INJURIES

Traditional abrasive blasting can put workers at risk! In the US alone, abrasive blasting causes an estimated 1,000 eye injuries daily, incurring a staggering $300 million in annual costs.

Unlike traditional abrasives that ricochet and endanger eyes, Sponge-Jet abrasives minimize rebound, significantly reducing the risk of eye injuries and promoting a safer work environment.

POLLUTION

Abrasive blasting is a major culprit behind fugitive emissions, releasing hazardous particles less than ten microns in size. These particles contribute significantly to respiratory problems, smog, and global pollution. Sponge-Jet technology offers a game-changing solution by capturing up to 99% of these emissions. By choosing Sponge-Jet, you can contribute to a cleaner environment and safeguard public health.

DOWNTIME

Million-dollar delays? Not with Sponge-Jet! Traditional blasting forces plant shutdowns, costing over a million dollars per day. These delays worsen when mechanics, welders, and electricians can’t work near abrasive blasting. Sponge-Jet eliminates this issue, allowing for faster project completion and keeping your entire operation running smoothly.
