Has your blast hose worn out faster than expected?
This can be happening because of a few reasons. There’s one reason that’s more common than the rest, though. Let’s dive deeper!
BLAST HOSE durability and safety are often determined by the following criteria:
- DIN Rating: A score of 50 or less
- Pressure Rating: Minimum pressure rating of 175 PSI and a burst/safety factor of 3:1
- Static Dissipation: Have static dissipation properties in the natural rubber including (preferably) an embedded copper wire with the liner and reinforcing pliers.
OTHER REASONS YOUR BLAST HOSE IS WEARING OUT
Aggressive abrasive – Blasting with aggressive abrasive or small particles will cause the blast hose to wear out quicker.
Unnecessary bends in hose – Regularly check your hose to make sure there are not any harsh bends.
Leaking air – Make sure air isn’t leaking out around the joints. Also check near the couplings and nozzle.
CHEAP BLAST HOSES AREN’T ALWAYS THE WAY TO GO!
At the end of the day, investing in a higher quality blast host will save you time and money.
