Sponge-Jet blast media is unique in the field of abrasive blasting. (See How it Works under the Description tab.) Depending on project requirements, many versions are available as follows (all versions use original sponge carrier unless noted):
- Silver Sponge series. Incorporates aluminum oxide abrasive.
- 16 to 320 mesh available, with the most common coating removal versions being Silver 30 or Silver 60.
- A DG (Double Grind) version is offered in the 30 and 60 mesh. This version is pre-processed to function like a working blend immediately, with up to 75% faster blast speed initially compared to original sponge abrasive.
- Red Sponge Media. Incorporates steel grit abrasive.
- Highly aggressive and typically used to remove pack rust and/or pitting.
- White Plastic Sponge Media. Incorporates Type II 30/40 mesh plastic urea.
- Lightly aggressive and used for coating removal without etching / profiling on steel or aluminum.
- White SPOCC Sponge Media. Incorporates Spherical Precipitate of Calcium Carbonate.
- Lightly aggressive and used for contaminant removal.
- White Glass Bead Sponge Media. Incorporates 60/80 mesh glass bead.
- Lightly aggressive, used for soft alloy substrates where a low-build coating system will be used.
- Green Sponge Media. Incorporates Wollastinite cleaning agent.
- Lightly aggressive, used for contaminant removal where moisture is not present.
- HyperX Media. Proprietary blend of aluminum oxide and other medias.
- Available in Medium or Coarse for 2 or 3 mil profile.
- Uses a higher ratio of abrasive-to-sponge, for faster production than even the Double Grind.
- Lower in cost, but not as effective in dust capture and with some ricochet, this media is best suited inside tanks or pipelines where 100% containment is assured.
- Hyper X media requires a specific 3-screen setup using the 70 series recycler (#3, #16, and #50)
- Super Media-1. Incorporates a blend of steel & ceramic abrasives.
- Highly aggressive, used for concrete blasting to expose aggregate, rubber lining removal on steel, lead paint removal in a demolition project, etc.
- When blasting on steel, this product creates such a high profile (8 mil plus) that some of the sponge will embed. If recoating, an additional cleaning process will be required using a steel brush, Bristle Blaster, etc.
All sponge media is packed 55 bags per pallet, with price breaks available at 1 pallet and at 6 pallets+. Note: Due to our distribution agreement with Sponge-Jet, pricing is not shown on our website. Contact us for fast, competitive pricing or send in the web-form quote request.
