How to Efficiently Recycle GMA Garnet: A Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Preparing Used GMA Garnet for Recycling
Before beginning the recycling process, it’s essential to remove any coarse contaminants from the used GMA Garnet. This includes materials like stones, welding rod ends, cigarette butts, broken glass, wood, and gloves. These contaminants are effectively extracted using a primary grizzly Rotary Trash Screen, ensuring that the garnet is clean and ready for the next stages of recycling.
Step 2 / 3: Removing Waste Fines
The second and third steps involve the removal of fine particles that are less than 100 microns (4thou) in size. This is done through a fully adjustable double Fines Removal System, which ensures that only the necessary amount of ineffective fine particles is extracted. Typically, no more than 10% of the used abrasive is removed at this stage, preserving the bulk of the garnet for continued use.
Step 4: Eliminating Waste Dust
In the fourth step, the Dust Collector Module plays a critical role in separating ultra-fine dust from the used abrasive. This dust is collected into a sealed hopper and discharged into bulk bags, making it easy and safe to dispose of. By removing these fine particles, you maintain the quality and efficiency of the recycled GMA Garnet.
Step 5 & 6: Disposing of Waste Paint Flakes
The final cleaning process involves a microtrash separator and a final airwash. This stage effectively removes any remaining contaminants such as paint flakes, rust particles, and very small stones. After this thorough cleaning, the GMA Garnet is ready for immediate reuse, ensuring that it meets the necessary standards for your blasting applications.
Step 7: Adding Virgin GMA Garnet
To maintain the quantity and quality of your abrasive material, it’s important to replenish the recycled GMA Garnet with new, virgin garnet. Typically, if 10-15% of the garnet is removed during the recycling process, an equivalent amount of new GMA Garnet is added. This practice ensures consistent performance and longevity of your abrasive material.
