Wet blasting has been around for quite some time, offering significant advantages but also bringing numerous challenges that have frustrated contractors. Over the years, we’ve listened to countless owners and job site foremen who stopped wet blasting due to the following reasons:
- Excessive water consumption: Hauling large quantities of water to job sites was impractical with previous systems.
- Uncontrolled water/abrasive ratio: Inability to precisely control this led to wastage of both water and abrasive, driving up costs.
- Complicated cleanup: Job site cleanup became more complex and costly, often requiring water containment to avoid environmental contamination.
- Sludge buildup: Both on-site and within the pot, sludge accumulation added extra cleanup time and frustration.
- Underutilized equipment: High investments in equipment that eventually ended up unused.
- Complex machinery: Systems were too complicated, often leaving only one person on-site capable of operating them.
Introducing the MistBlaster: The Better Solution
BlastOne heard your concerns and developed the MistBlaster to address these issues while still delivering all the benefits of wet blasting.
- Ease of Use: The MistBlaster is so simple that a new associate can operate it after just one minute of instruction. Its 3-position valve easily switches between Dry Blast, Wet Blast, and Wash Down modes.
- No Sludge Build-Up: Unlike older systems, the media in the pot remains dry, with water introduced outside the blast pot, eliminating the need for tedious sludge cleanup.
- Precise Control: The system allows for accurate metering of abrasive through common valves like the Thompson or Tera Valve. The water/abrasive ratio is finely controlled, using as little as 0.5 pints/minute, with average usage around 1.0 pints/minute. Over a 6-hour blasting day, the MistBlaster consumes just 35-40 gallons of water—significantly less than older systems that used 5-8 gallons per minute. This means substantial savings in water, abrasive, and cleanup.
Three Flexible Options for Acquiring the MistBlaster
- Retrofit Existing Equipment: If you’ve already invested heavily in wet blasting equipment that’s now sitting idle, we might be able to retrofit it with the MistBlaster system, bringing it up to modern standards.
- Convert Your Current Pot: Many dry blast pots can be retrofitted to work with the MistBlaster, allowing you to switch between dry blasting, wet blasting, and wash down.
- Rentals Available: Not ready to invest in new equipment? Take advantage of our affordable rental rates and incorporate the MistBlaster into your project costs to access its advanced technology and benefits.
